Imagine going from 0-60 in 2.9 seconds. Then imagine reaching a top speed nearing 273 mph. The Koenigsegg Agera R claims to be able to reach both of these and oh so much more. This masterpiece of Swedish engineering promises to be a front-runner in the sports car industry.
With its 2-door targa body style and aerodynamic design, the Koenigsegg Agera R looks sleek and stylish. The car features a rear wing that operates with wind pressure rather than hydraulics. This allows for better compensation of headwinds and tailwinds, and a lighter load on the car. The pylons holding the wings in position have also been designed so that air is extracted from the engine compartment and routed to the back of the car.
Faster Than a Bugatti Veyron?
The Agera R features 19-inch wheels and a ceramic braking system. It also has a Triplex rear suspension, with a shock and spring attached to each rear wheel, and a third that operates in series with the two individual shocks.
The engine system utilizes a 5-liter twin turbocharged V8. An interesting aspect is that the engine is designed to be operational with multiple fuel types. The preferred fuel is 95 octane as other fuel use will reduce engine output and reduce overall performance. Although a new contender in terms of sports cars, this one is certainly one to watch, and destined to be a classic.
