The 1973 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS was a creation that combined the building of Ferrari, Scaglietti and Fiat. Exhibited at the 1966 Turin Motor Show as a working prototype, the Dino 246 concept became a reality in 1969, although the 246 GTS did not debut until 1972 at the Geneva Auto Show. With its 2.4 liter V6 engine, a five-speed transmission, and its Pininfarina styled body, this car was an instant success.

Upon first glance, many agree that the Dino 246 is almost identical to the 206. However, the larger wheelbase and engine made the car stand out from the 206. In regards to the engine, the V6 was capable of 200 hp in the European version and just slightly lower in the American version. Also, the engine was situated in front of the rear axle and mounted transversely behind the driver making this car unique as well as user friendly. Handling like a dream, the 1973 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS sold well on the market, becoming a popular high-end car to have at the time. Although the car did not feature any Ferrari logos or badges, its sleek Ferrari mold and removable targa top panel made this car very sporting and appealing.
